On the 4th of October the SAS Forum 2016 was held at the NBC congress center in Nieuwegein. The theme of the day was “Analytics Everywhere”. As one of the sponsors we had our own stand and spoke to many visitors about our unique proposition of unleashing SAS analytics to all end users in the primary process of organizations. We are the first and only to have created an integration between SAS and Mendix. For the SAS forum we developed a “liquidity” portal as demo where visitors could see how this combination works together. In the portal a user sees his debitors and creditors including predictions of the liquidity level for the coming months. The data of the “liquidity” portal was analyzed by SAS and made available in the portal developed with Mendix.
During the event there were many interesting presentations about SAS products and also clients of SAS presented interesting use cases. One of the presentations was given by Bas van Essen, Head of Department of Information Development, and Gilbert Westdorp, program manager, at Rijkswaterstaat. They presented a case which repairs and maintains ship locks based on sensor data of sensors in the ship lock. As a result they can predict when a ship lock needs maintenance instead of being too late. Here analytics creates predictability, efficiency and cost savings.
In the afternoon there was a mini hackathon where our developers Thomas and Andrew competed in. They developed a client segmentation solution using SAS Visual Analytic and SAS Visual Statistics. Several creative insides were developed of the visitor’s data of the SAS.com website. The winners are rewarded with a free trip to the Global SAS Forum in Las Vegas and will be announced soon.
After a long but exciting and interesting day we had some drinks and snacks before we went home with a contented feeling.
